What You'll Do
We are seeking a hands-on Production Engineer to lead the optimization and continuous improvement of our first-of-a-kind commercial plant in Texas City. You will play a critical role in ensuring our bio-based production process runs efficiently, safely, and reliably – hitting target KPIs and uptime goals.
Your day-to-day will span across process optimization, troubleshooting, and project execution, working closely with our operators, technicians, and plant leadership to maintain and improve performance of fermentation and downstream unit operations. This is a role for someone who thrives on the production floor, loves problem-solving, and wants to help scale a technology redefining chemical manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Optimize production processes to meet target KPIs, quality, and uptime.
- Lead root-cause analysis and troubleshooting of process or equipment issues across fermentation and distillation systems.
- Support the design and implementation of plant improvement projects, including capacity, reliability, and safety upgrades.
- Provide hands-on technical support to operators and technicians during daily operations, startups, and shutdowns.
- Analyze process data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, or deviations, and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, SOPs, and operating standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with the R&D, Maintenance, and Controls teams to translate insights into improved process performance.
- Support implementation of Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
- B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in production, process, or operations engineering within a chemical, biochemical, or bioindustrial plant environment.
- Direct experience with either fermentation or distillation systems is required.
- Experience with membrane filtration, ion exchange, liquid-liquid extraction, or product loadouts is a strong plus.
- Proven track record of improving process performance through data-driven problem-solving.
- Familiarity with controls and automation systems (PLC/DCS) is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams on the production floor.
What we promise you?
- You get to work with a group of passionate scientists, working on challenging and meaningful projects
- This will be the journey of a lifetime – we are serious about our mission to reduce over 1 gigaton of CO₂ and you can play a pivotal role in making that happen
