The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Design Lead to drive the industrial design vision of ARX Robotics’ UGV product ecosystem. In this role, you will define, refine, and execute the design strategy for our next generation of robotic platforms, working hands-on with cross-functional teams across Marketing, Technology, Engineering, and PMO.

As the Design Lead, you will build ARX Robotics’ design function from the ground up establishing design processes, defining the design language, and recruiting and mentoring a high-performing design team as the company scales. This is a strategic and practical role, part visionary leader, part systems thinker, part expert craftsperson.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end design of UGV platforms, accessories, and modular systems.
  • Establish ARX’s industrial design language and build the design team from the ground up.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Tech, Marketing, and PMO to align design with technical, brand, and program requirements.
  • Produce high-quality design deliverables including sketches, CAD models, prototypes, and presentations.
  • Conduct user research and apply insights to improve usability, ergonomics, and mission effectiveness.
  • Drive design reviews, ensure design intent throughout development, and manage external design partners.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation across materials, features, and technologies.
Your Profile
  • Experience in product design, or mechanical design, ideally in robotics, automotive or defence.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating complex hardware design, systems thinking, precise and detailed design execution.
  • Proven experience building or scaling a design team is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo, or similar.
  • Experience designing for manufacturing (DFM), with understanding of materials, mechanical systems, and fabrication processes.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong visual communication and storytelling skills.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities.
