Senior Backend Developer - Host Experience (all genders)

• Holidu is our software and service solution for vacation rental owners (hosts), property managers, and small agencies to manage and rent out their properties more efficiently.
• Your department is an international group of 45, including Developers, Designers, Product Managers and QAs.
• You and your teammates will focus on creating a best-in-class tool to help our hosts manage their properties effortlessly. You and your team are responsible for bringing new features to the Holidu Host app, and services, and delivering a great user experience.

• Backend written in Java 21+ and Kotlin (with Spring Boot).
• Deployed as microservices on AWS-hosted Kubernetes cluster (EKS).
• Internal and external web applications written with ReactJS.
• Event-driven communication between services through ActiveMQ.
• Usage of a diverse set of technologies depending on the use case, such as PostgreSQL, SQS, S3, Redis, ElasticSearch, GraphQL, and many more.
• Monitoring with Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, APM, and CloudWatch.

• Design, build, evolve, and maintain our backend services, creating a great user experience for our hosts.
• Ensure our applications are highly scalable, able to handle tens of thousands of properties and millions of bookings.
• Stay up to date on the latest AI technology, effectively utilising it in your day-to-day work.
• Work with data persistence - whether in PostgreSQL, Redis, or new state of the art technologies you help us evaluate.
• Deploy applications with Jenkins to our AWS Kubernetes cluster.
• Monitor systems with Grafana, Prometheus, and ELK, ensuring reliability and quick issue resolution.
• Collaborate in a supportive, cross-functional team that values knowledge sharing and improving together.
• Apply engineering best practices, and stay curious by experimenting with new technologies.

• Proven track record as a successful software engineer building backend applications.
• Experience with Java or Kotlin with Spring
• Experience with relational databases and deploying apps in cloud environments. NoSQL experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and integration best practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a team-oriented mindset.
• Curiosity for the business side - you want to understand the “why” behind the features.
