Senior Backend / Data Engineer (all genders)
We are looking for a highly skilled Backend / Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain robust data applications and solutions. You'll play a pivotal role in developing and optimizing data pipelines and ensuring that our data infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and built for growth. You'll be responsible for working with a variety of tools, particularly within the AWS ecosystem, and will be crucial in supporting the data strategy of our organization.
Key Responsibilities

These pipelines must intelligently ingest unstructured content (for e.g. PDF guidelines, textbooks, video transcripts) and perform contextual chunking, implement entity resolution logic, and feed high-quality, structured output into a graph.
- Design a formal semantic schema (ontology/conceptual model) and implement it within the chosen graph database, and manage data ingestion.
- Assist in the administration of our operational MySQL database and propose optimization strategies for enhanced performance.
- Research and analyze new data sources to drive the development of internal processes and introduce new features for our data architecture.
- Support the infrastructure and strategy for scalable data APIs, caching mechanisms, and data distribution.
- Identify, evaluate, and resolve data quality issues, and propose solutions to improve data reliability and consistency over the long term.
Your profile
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or Backend Engineer heavily involved in Data products or a similar role.
- Deep expertise in data warehousing and designing efficient and scalable data pipelines.
- Strong programming skills in Python or TypeScript for ETL processes and data manipulation.
- Experience with AWS services such as DynamoDB, S3, Amazon Neptune, Glue, Lambda, Kinesis, and others for data storage, processing, and streaming.
- Proficiency in MySQL for relational database administration, as well as MongoDB, Redis for diverse data needs.
- Practical experience with orchestrating complex workflows and Terraform for infrastructure as code.
- Linux Bash/Shell scripting experience for automation and efficient data processing.
- Ability to work independently and set up end-to-end solutions.
- Fluent in English with strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Self-driven and fast learner, capable of staying up-to-date with the latest tools and technologies.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Hands-on, production experience with a major Graph Database (Neo4j, Amazon Neptune, or ArangoDB). You can write complex traversal and aggregation queries (Cypher/Gremlin) fluently.
- Experience with Google BigQuery for additional cloud-based data warehousing solutions.
- Familiarity with automation tools like n8n to streamline workflows.
What we offer
- Flexible working hours and remote work are a given to enable you to achieve a good work-life balance.
