About the role
As a Project Manager – Consulting, you will make an impact by leading and delivering multiple client-facing projects within the Life Sciences / Pharmaceutical commercial domain. You will be a valued member of the Consulting team in Japan, working closely with global client stakeholders, internal Cognizant teams, and partner vendors in a dynamic, multi-vendor environment.
This role is ideal for a hands-on project manager who thrives in fast-paced consulting environments, enjoys owning delivery end to end, and is comfortable managing ambiguity across short-cycle initiatives.
In this role, you will:
- Lead end-to-end project management for multiple concurrent consulting projects, from setup and kickoff through delivery and closure
- Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and milestones, ensuring scope, timeline, and quality commitments are met
- Track progress, risks, and dependencies, providing clear and structured status reporting to client and internal stakeholders
- Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders across business, IT, and vendor teams
- Select and apply appropriate delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid) depending on project needs
- Support client engagement activities, including coordination in a multi-vendor, global delivery environment
Work model
We believe hybrid work is the way forward. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position with flexibility to work from home and from a Cognizant or client office in Tokyo or Kobe.

What you must have to be considered
- Proven experience as a Project Manager in consulting, professional services, or complex client-facing environments
- Strong working knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) and delivery governance
- Business-level Korean and English communication skills (spoken and written) – mandatory
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders across regions, functions, and vendors
- Excellent communication, planning, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with distributed or global teams
These will help you succeed
- Prior experience supporting pharmaceutical or life sciences clients, particularly in commercial or IT-enabled initiatives
- Experience using project management or collaboration tools such as Jira or Asana
- Project management certifications such as PMP, CSM, or equivalent
- Comfort operating as a stand-alone PM with a high level of ownership and autonomy
