About the role
The Senior Administrator role is pivotal in managing and optimizing our cloud infrastructure and enterprise data processing platforms. With a strong focus on Ab Initio & AWS Administration , the candidate will ensure seamless operations, high system availability, and continuous improvement across our data ecosystem. This hybrid role requires a seasoned professional with 10+ years of experience, working primarily during day shifts, and capable of driving both operational excellence and strategic enhancements.
Skillset :
- Strong Ab Initio Administration (Mandatory + Primary requirement)
- AWS Cloud (Secondary requirement)
- Knowledge of AI (optional, but good to have)
Responsibilities
Ab Initio Administration
- Provide expert support, configuration, and troubleshooting for Ab Initio systems to enhance data processing capabilities.
- Manage Ab Initio environments, including upgrades, patches, and performance tuning.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure efficient job execution and platform stability.
Cloud & Infrastructure Administration
- Oversee the administration and maintenance of AWS cloud infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Monitor system performance, implement updates, and ensure adherence to security and compliance standards.
- Conduct regular audits to identify risks, vulnerabilities, and improvement opportunities.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Solution Delivery
- Partner with engineering, architecture, and business teams to design and implement scalable, secure, and high‑performing solutions.
- Facilitate integration of new technologies to enhance system capabilities and support business growth.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions aligned with business objectives.
Operational Excellence & Automation
- Lead initiatives to automate routine tasks, reducing manual intervention and increasing productivity.
- Develop and enforce best practices for cloud, data platform, and ETL/ELT management.
- Analyze system metrics to identify trends and propose improvements for enhanced performance.
Governance, Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal security policies.
- Prepare detailed reports on system performance, incidents, and project outcomes to inform strategic decisions.
Leadership & Knowledge Sharing
- Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to junior team members to foster skill development and knowledge sharing.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, operational discipline, and collaborative problem‑solving.
Work model: Hybrid

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 4 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Hartford, CT. Compensation & Benefits
Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $80,000 - $130,000, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
