About the role

As an Application Engineer, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and optimizing software solutions using SQL, Perl, Core Java, and PHP to support high‑performance applications. You will be a valued member of the technology team and work collaboratively with cross‑functional partners, stakeholders, and development teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and innovative solutions.

In this role, you will:

  • Design and develop high‑quality software solutions leveraging SQL, Perl, Core Java, and PHP to meet business and technical requirements.
  • Analyze, optimize, and enhance existing systems to improve performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless application and system integration.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers to support continuous learning and collaboration.
  • Conduct thorough testing, debugging, and code reviews to ensure quality and consistency across deliverables.

Work model

Onsite

What you need to have to be considered

  • 10+ years of experience in software development and architecture, with a strong record of delivering successful projects.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Perl, Core Java, and PHP.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to understand and work through complex systems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring and guiding junior developers.

These will help you stand out

  • Demonstrated ability to optimize large‑scale applications for performance and reliability.
  • Experience driving process improvement initiatives or introducing modern development practices.
  • Ability to stay current with emerging technologies and apply innovative solutions to business needs.
  • Demonstrated adaptability in dynamic environments with evolving requirements.

Salary and Other Compensation:

Applications will be accepted until March 29, 2026.

The annual salary for this position is between $ 95,000 - $ 115,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
