About the role
As an MDM Business Analyst, you will make an impact by translating complex business needs into Master Data Management (MDM) capabilities that improve data quality, consistency, and usability across the enterprise. You will be a valued member of the data management team, partnering closely with business SMEs, data stewards, and technical MDM teams to support requirement definition, data analysis, governance, and implementation activities. This role will support MDM domains such as Customer, Product, Provider, or Commercial Party.
In this role, you will:
· Gather, document, and prioritize MDM business requirements—including BRDs, functional specifications, UI requirements, enrichment rules, schema needs, and data loading requirements.
· Conduct workshops with business stakeholders and SMEs to define and refine MDM processes and modernization needs.
· Perform data discovery and profiling; analyze data quality issues, root causes, and propose remediation approaches.
· Create SQL queries to extract, validate, and analyze data and identify anomalies.
· Define and validate matching rules, survivorship logic, and workflows for MDM hub ingestion.
· Participate in identifying and validating golden records while ensuring governance and stewardship alignment.
· Collaborate closely with MDM architects, integration teams, and developers to translate business needs into functional specifications.
· Support solution validation through UAT test case creation, data validation testing, and defect triage.
· Draft process documentation, mapping documents, governance deliverables, and requirement specifications.
· Facilitate JAD sessions, ensuring alignment across business and technical teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Work model — Onsite (Jersey City, NJ)

What you need to have to be considered
· Strong understanding of MDM concepts, including survivorship, matching/merging, workflows, hierarchy management, and golden record creation.
· Hands‑on experience in data profiling, data quality assessment, and writing SQL queries for analysis and validation.
· Knowledge of data governance frameworks, stewardship processes, and enterprise data standards.
· Proven ability to create BRDs, FSDs, requirement matrices, data flow diagrams, and process maps.
· Strong experience conducting workshops, leading requirement elicitation sessions, and managing stakeholder expectations.
· Understanding of integration patterns, data ingestion flows, and downstream system data consumption.
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with business stakeholders, technical teams, and leadership.
· Strong analytical thinking, problem‑solving abilities, and attention to detail.
These will help you stand out
· Prior experience working on Customer, Product, or Party MDM implementations.
· Experience supporting large‑scale MDM transformations or SaaS MDM solutions such as Informatica IDMC.
· Familiarity with insurance domain concepts (aligned with AIG Syn MDM program context).
· Experience working with cross‑functional enterprise data teams in matrixed environments.

Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until March 25, 2025.
The annual salary for this position is between $86,000 - $137,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
