Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer with strong expertise in Snowflake, dbt Cloud, and scalable data pipeline development. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in data modeling, SQL, DevOps practices, and cross‑functional collaboration within an agile environment. This role is critical for designing reliable data solutions that support analytics, reporting, and strategic business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Data Modeling

  • Design, test, and maintain conceptual, logical, physical, and dimensional (star/snowflake) data models.
  • Develop analytical data structures optimized for business intelligence and reporting.
  • Improve data performance through partitioning, indexing, and SQL best practices.
  • Conduct peer code reviews to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency across data models.

2. Data Pipeline Development & Orchestration

  • Design, build, and optimize scalable and resilient ETL/ELT data pipelines.
  • Use orchestration tools for scheduling, dependency management, error handling, and workflow optimization.
  • Work extensively with dbt Cloud for transformation logic, testing, documentation, and deployment.
  • Conduct UAT, troubleshoot data issues, and manage code releases for seamless end‑to‑end data flow.
  • Demonstrate strong SQL mastery for transformations, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

3. DevOps & Code Management

  • Leverage version control tools such as Azure DevOps and GitHub for collaborative development.
  • Maintain best practices in branching, merging, CI/CD pipelines, and release management.

4. Monitoring & Observability

  • Implement logging, metrics, monitoring, and alerting frameworks to ensure pipeline reliability.
  • Proactively detect and resolve failures, performance bottlenecks, and data quality issues.

5. Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with data analysts, data engineers, product owners, and solution architects.
  • Translate business needs into scalable data solutions aligned with organizational goals.
  • Communicate technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

6. Agile Ways of Working

  • Participate actively in agile ceremonies including standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and demos.
  • Apply agile principles to iterate quickly, adapt to change, and contribute to continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong hands‑on experience with Snowflake and dbt Cloud.
  • Advanced SQL skills with proven experience in analytical and performance‑optimized queries.
  • Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines in a cloud environment.
  • Solid understanding of data warehouse concepts, dimensional modeling, and metadata management.
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Azure Data Factory, Prefect—customize if needed).
  • Proficiency with Git-based version control, CI/CD principles, and DevOps workflows.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • Exposure to monitoring/observability tools (Datadog, CloudWatch, Snowflake Query History, etc.).
  • Knowledge of agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Background in analytics, BI tools, or data governance.
