Role Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled and strategic Project Manager/Consultant with a strong consultant mindset and a strong background in business and data analytics. This unique hybrid role involves managing the complete lifecycle of data-driven projects while simultaneously serving as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of business challenges, combining rigorous project management with the ability to translate data into actionable, strategic insights. They will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams, including data engineers, analysts, and business leaders, to ensure our analytics initiatives deliver tangible business value.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Leadership & Management:
Lead analytics and BI projects (Agile/Waterfall) from start to finish. Define scope and objectives with stakeholders. Create and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocation. Proactively identify and mitigate risks. Report project status and performance to all stakeholders, including senior leadership.
2. Business Consulting & Stakeholder Management:
Partner with business units to understand needs and translate complex problems into data requirements. Advise stakeholders on using data and analytics for problem-solving and opportunities. Facilitate sessions to align on goals. Propose innovative analytical solutions to drive efficiency, growth, and informed decisions.
3. Data & Analytics Oversight:
Oversee the full analytics lifecycle: data acquisition, cleaning, analysis, modeling, and visualization. Collaborate with analysts and scientists to ensure data and model integrity. Ensure project outcomes are actionable insights, not just reports. Champion data literacy across the organization.
4. Team & Resource Coordination:
Build and lead multidisciplinary project teams (engineers, analysts, developers). Foster a collaborative, high-performing environment with guidance and mentorship. Manage dependencies between teams for seamless execution.
Required Skills & Experience
Experience:
- 5+ years of professional experience, with at least 2 years in a project management role, preferably focused on data, analytics, or business intelligence in Product companies.
- Premier B-school candidates preferred.
- Demonstrated success in managing complex projects from inception to completion, delivering on time and within budget.
- Proven experience in a consulting-oriented role, either in a professional services firm or an internal consulting capacity, is a significant plus.
- Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Asana,etc).
Technical Skills:
- Data Analysis: Fundamental understanding of SQL and a working knowledge of statistical analysis.
- Data Visualization: Hands-on experience with business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker to create compelling dashboards and reports.
Soft Skills:
- Consultant Mindset: Exceptional problem-solving skills with a natural curiosity and a strategic, big-picture perspective. The ability to identify root causes and design comprehensive solutions.
- Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for a non-technical audience and present findings to executive leadership.
- Leadership: Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a team towards a common goal.
- Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Adaptability: The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
