About Cognizant Consulting

Cognizant Consulting is more than Cognizant’s consulting practice—we’re a global community of experts dedicated to helping clients reimagine their business. Blending deep industry knowledge with technology and transformation expertise, we deliver innovative solutions for leading organizations across industries. And now, we’re looking for our next colleague to help shape the future of insurance consulting.

About the role

As a Commercial Lines Insurance Brokerage Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will make an impact by providing deep domain expertise across commercial P&C insurance products and brokerage operations, supporting client transformation initiatives and operational excellence. You will be a valued member of the Insurance Consulting team, working closely with client leadership, consulting partners, operations, and technology teams to define best practices, improve processes, and ensure regulatory and operational alignment.

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as a trusted subject matter expert for commercial P&C insurance lines, including General Liability, Property, Commercial Auto, Workers’ Compensation, Umbrella, and Professional Liability.
  • Partner with client VPs and divisional leaders during discovery and blueprinting phases to define current‑state and future‑state brokerage processes.
  • Translate brokerage workflows—such as quoting, binding, renewals, endorsements, exclusions, and carrier guidelines—into clear, actionable guidance for consulting and delivery teams.
  • Lead the definition and validation of to‑be processes, operating models, and standard operating procedures aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Support process improvement initiatives by identifying operational, compliance, and system gaps, and collaborating with technology teams on practical solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of KPIs and SLAs to measure operational performance and service quality across brokerage operations.

Work model

We strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this position is Hybrid within the United States. Working arrangements may evolve based on project and client needs, and expectations will always be clearly communicated.

What you must have to be considered

  • Extensive experience in commercial insurance brokerage operations, with strong knowledge of P&C products and end‑to‑end brokerage workflows.
  • Proven ability to act as a client‑facing SME, engaging senior stakeholders and explaining complex insurance concepts clearly and confidently.
  • Hands‑on experience with process mapping, blueprinting, and operational transformation in insurance or brokerage environments.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory, compliance, and E&O considerations impacting commercial insurance operations.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across consulting, operations, and technology teams.

These will help you succeed

  • Prior experience in a consulting or advisory role supporting insurance carriers, brokers, or MGA environments.
  • Exposure to process automation, digitization, or transformation initiatives within insurance operations.
  • Experience defining or supporting performance management frameworks (KPIs, SLAs) for shared services or operations teams.

We’re excited to meet people who share our mission and can make an impact in a variety of ways. Don’t hesitate to apply, even if you only meet the minimum requirements listed—your transferable experience and domain expertise may be exactly what we’re looking for.
