Job Description: Retail Merchandising Expert/Associate Director

Position Summary:
Important: Strong Oracle Retail experience is mandatory, specifically in the Cloud version (MFCS, MOM, SIOCS).


We are looking for a Senior Retail Planning Manager/Director with extensive experience (18+ years) in demand forecasting, inventory management, and financial planning for retail businesses. This role will focus on driving efficiency in product allocation, improving stock turns, and aligning planning strategies with corporate objectives. Additionally, the candidate will work closely with CRM teams and client partners to provide insights and support solutioning as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in retail planning.

Key Responsibilities:
• Retail Planning & Forecasting: Develop accurate sales and demand forecasts, ensuring optimal inventory levels across all channels.
• Inventory Optimization: Lead strategies to manage stock levels, reduce excess inventory, and enhance sell-through performance.
• Financial Planning & Budgeting: Oversee Open-to-Buy (OTB) planning, margin analysis, and P&L management to support business growth.
• CRM & Client Engagement: Collaborate with CRM teams and key client partners to analyze consumer purchasing patterns, enhance customer retention, and personalize demand planning strategies.
• Assortment & Allocation Strategy: Work with merchandising teams to create effective assortment plans and allocate stock based on sales trends and regional demand.
• Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize retail analytics, AI-driven forecasting tools, and market data to enhance planning accuracy and business strategies.
• Solutioning & SME Support: Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) by providing expert insights on demand trends, customer segmentation, and sales optimization strategies to internal teams and external partners.
• Supplier & Logistics Coordination: Collaborate with vendors, distribution centers, and supply chain teams to ensure efficient product flow.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with sales, merchandising, and operations teams to align business strategies and drive revenue growth.
• Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing retail planning team.

Qualifications & Skills:
• 18+ years of experience in retail planning, demand forecasting, or inventory management.
• Expertise in CRM systems, customer data analytics, and demand-driven planning models.
• Strong analytical mindset with proficiency in planning software (SAP, JDA, Oracle, etc.).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with omni-channel retail planning is an advantage.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $160+depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
