About the role
Cognizant’s Engineering practice is seeking a Senior Java Developer / SDET who will help us to develop and implement comprehensive test strategies and plans for digital products. this position requires a seasoned professional with 6+ years of experience. The role operates in an onsite work model during day shifts ensuring a balanced work-life environment.
In this role, you will:
· Develop and implement comprehensive test strategies and plans for digital products.
· Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reusable automation frameworks and scripts.
· Lead the execution of automated test suites, analyse results, and manage defect tracking, collaborating with development teams to resolve issues.
· Mentor and lead a team of automation test engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
· Collaborate with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
· Stay informed on industry trends and evaluate new tools and technologies to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.
· Implement and advocate for quality assurance best practices, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
· Provide detailed test reports and metrics to stakeholders, effectively communicating with both technical and non-technical team members.
· Recommend new tools and technologies to improve testing processes and outcomes.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is an onsite position requiring 5 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Plano, TX.

What you need to have to be considered:
· 6+ years of experience or equivalent expertise in troubleshooting, resolving, and maintaining client-facing enterprise-level web applications and REST services.
· Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java or Python.
· Extensive test automation experience with in-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems.
· Proven experience in building automation test suites including backend API and database validation using SQL queries.
· Hands-on experience with test automation tools like Selenium, Cucumber, JMeter, TestNG, Blazemeter, and Java.
· Experience with REST and SOAP web services, including API testing and automation.
· Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, Bamboo, and TeamCity.
· Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts, design patterns, and continuous delivery principles.
· Intellectual curiosity with a proven ability to learn quickly, along with a high degree of initiative and self-direction.

· Hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
· Practical experience with cloud-native technologies.

Salary and compensation:
The annual salary for this position will be between $61,000 to $114,000 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
