About the role

As a Senior Java Full Stack Developer, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and maintaining high‑performing software applications leveraging modern cloud and full‑stack technologies. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and collaborate closely with developers, architects, product owners, and cross‑functional partners to deliver scalable, secure, and innovative solutions.

This is an onsite role based on business requirements in Plano, TX. Regardless of work arrangement, we support a healthy work–life balance through our wellbeing programs.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and enhance backend services using Java and Spring Boot to support scalable and high‑performance applications.
  • Build dynamic and responsive front‑end interfaces using AngularJS and JavaScript.
  • Utilize AWS services to deploy, monitor, and manage cloud‑based applications with a strong focus on reliability and security.
  • Design, optimize, and maintain SQL and MySQL databases to ensure efficient data storage, retrieval, and overall system performance.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver working solutions.
  • Conduct testing, debugging, and performance tuning to ensure stability and adherence to engineering best practices.
  • Offer technical support for production issues to minimize downtime and enhance user experience.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure high‑quality, consistent, and maintainable code.
  • Document system designs, configurations, and processes to support long‑term maintainability and team knowledge sharing.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the development lifecycle.

What you need to have to be considered:

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in software engineering with a track record of delivering complex applications.
  • Hands‑on expertise in AWS for cloud deployments, hosting, monitoring, and infrastructure management.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and MySQL for database design, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Advanced experience with Spring Boot for building backend services and integrating applications.
  • Proficiency in AngularJS and JavaScript for developing dynamic front‑end interfaces.
  • Extensive experience with Java for robust enterprise application development.

These will help you stand out:

  • Experience working in large, distributed enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and modern tooling.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues across cloud, backend, and front‑end layers.
  • Ability to mentor and uplift junior developers through coaching, training, and best practices.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $81,000 – $140,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
