About the role
As a Senior QA Automation Lead, you will make an impact by leading quality activities across the full project lifecycle and ensuring the delivery of high‑quality applications through robust testing practices, automation, and continuous improvement. You will be a valued member of the Quality Engineering team and collaborate closely with product owners, developers, scrum teams, and QA leadership to drive testing excellence and process maturity.
In this role, you will:
- Represent the Quality Engineering team throughout the entire project lifecycle, including grooming, sprint planning, defect triage, root‑cause analysis, and risk mitigation.
- Support QA leadership by gathering and reporting quality metrics and contributing to ongoing process improvements.
- Actively participate in requirement‑grooming sessions to ensure acceptance criteria are clear, complete, and testable, enabling comprehensive test coverage.
- Plan and coordinate test activities including test design, in‑sprint automation, regression automation, execution, defect tracking, and overall functional and regression testing cycles.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, improving QA procedures and providing guidance, coaching, and best practices to team members.
- Perform thorough manual and automated testing to prevent defects across Regression, End‑to‑End, Client, and Production environments.
- Translate QA, UAT, and business scenarios into effective automated regression test cases.
- Enhance automation frameworks and guide team members in resolving automation or framework‑related challenges.
- Leverage AI‑driven techniques and tools to increase efficiency, optimize test coverage, and improve quality outcomes.

What you need to have to be considered:
- 10+ years of experience in Quality Assurance with strong exposure to Agile development environments.
- Hands‑on experience performing both manual and automation testing.
- Strong automation expertise, including the ability to enhance and maintain automation scripts aligned with evolving application functionality.
- Experience applying AI techniques in projects to improve testing efficiency and quality outcomes.
- Strong SQL and Core Java programming skills.
- Proficiency with Cucumber BDD, Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, Maven, GitHub, and Jenkins.
- Ability to work effectively in high‑pressure environments while managing multiple parallel initiatives.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.

Total compensation:
We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between CAD 69,750 to 110,500 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
