About the Role

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will play a critical role in the end-to-end physical deployment and logical validation of network infrastructure in mission-critical environments. You will lead complex installations, troubleshoot across OSI Layers 1–3, and ensure seamless integration between physical connectivity and logical configurations.

In this Role, You Will

  • Lead advanced device racking and mounting for high-density chassis (Cisco Nexus 9k, Catalyst 9500) and enterprise appliances.
  • Oversee structured cabling and fiber optics, ensuring compliance with ANSI/TIA-606-B standards.
  • Manage patch panels, cross-connects, and media conversions for diverse physical media types.
  • Configure Out-of-Band (OOB) remote management solutions and troubleshoot console access issues.
  • Validate Layer 2 and Layer 3 configurations, including VLANs, STP, EtherChannel/LACP, and routing protocols (BGP/OSPF).

Work Model

On-site role based in Basel Stadt or Stein (Aargau), Switzerland.

What You Need to Have

  • For the Senior role you need: 8+ years of experience in Data Center or large enterprise campus environments.
  • Deep expertise in Ethernet and fiber cabling, hardware installation (Cisco, Arista, Palo Alto, F5).
  • Advanced knowledge of routing and switching fundamentals (Cisco IOS, NX-OS, Arista EOS).
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools (Visual Fault Locators, Light Meters, Fiber Inspection Scopes).
  • Certifications: CCNP Enterprise (ENCORE) highly preferred; CCNA mandatory.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for mission-critical incidents.
  • Fluency in English and min. A2 level German.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with DWDM and handling 10/20/40 Gig fiber links.
  • Familiarity with media converters and advanced troubleshooting of physical loops and broadcast storms.
  • Leadership experience in coordinating field teams and vendor interactions.
