About the role
As a Business Analyst – Zelle Payments, you will make an impact by leading end‑to‑end peer‑to‑peer (P2P) payments initiatives for financial institutions and fintech clients. You will be a valued member of Cognizant Consulting’s Banking & Financial Services practice, working collaboratively with clients, product teams, engineering partners, and risk and compliance stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and compliant Zelle implementations.
In this role, you will
- Lead end‑to‑end business analysis for Zelle implementations, covering enrollment, send/request money, split bill, and funds movement workflows.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for Zelle and P2P payment rails, partnering with Early Warning Services (EWS) throughout UI/UX and technical certification processes.
- Translate business and regulatory requirements into clear functional specifications, business rules, and API‑level requirements for engineering teams.
- Collaborate with risk, fraud, and compliance teams to define controls related to transaction limits, velocity checks, sanctions screening, and dispute handling.
- Support Agile delivery by managing backlogs, writing high‑quality user stories and acceptance criteria, and coordinating user acceptance testing to ensure a seamless digital experience.
What you need to be considered
- 5+ years of Business Analyst experience within payments, digital banking, or financial services consulting.
- Hands‑on experience delivering at least one full‑cycle Zelle implementation within a bank or fintech environment.
- Strong understanding of P2P payments, real‑time payments, and U.S. payment ecosystems (e.g., ACH, RTP, FedNow).
- Experience translating business needs into technical requirements, including API integrations and data flows with core banking platforms.
- Proven ability to manage complex stakeholders and communicate effectively across business, technology, and compliance teams.
What will help you stand out
- Familiarity with EWS certification processes and Zelle Network Participant Rules.
- Working knowledge of ISO 20022 messaging and real‑time payment processing models.
- Hands‑on experience using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Visio, SQL, Swagger, or Postman.
- Background in fraud strategy, sanctions screening, or Reg E–related dispute management.
- Consulting experience supporting large financial institutions or digital banking transformations.
