Rabot Charge

Rabot Charge

Hamburg, Germany
Posted on Aug 15, 2025
Why us?

RABOT Energy is on a mission to make green energy easy, smart, and accessible. As we scale, our engineering teams are at the heart of turning this mission into reality—developing high-performing, reliable systems that power our digital energy platform.

We're now looking for an Engineering Manager to take ownership of our App teams—a set of two teams working on mission-critical app experience that keep everything running smoothly. You’ll be responsible for the growth and performance of a team of 10 cross-functional engineers split between Hamburg and Berlin.

If you’re passionate about technology, motivated by helping people grow, and excited by the pace and challenges of an ambitious startup—this could be your next chapter.

Your Impact
  • You will lead the evolution of Rabot’s mobile platforms, shaping the foundation for how our customers interact with our products.
  • You’ll be expected to bring clarity and prioritization in fast-moving, ambiguous environments, making hard trade-offs between speed, quality, and long-term sustainability - always with both customer impact and technical health in mind.
  • Lead, support, and grow a team of mobile engineers working across frontend, backend, and cross-platform solutions critical to our customer experience.
  • Build a strong team culture rooted in ownership, product sense, and technical curiosity - where engineers care as deeply about how things feel in a user’s hand as how they’re built under the hood.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, Backend, and other Engineering Managers to deliver scalable, reliable, and delightful mobile experiences that meet business goals and exceed customer expectations.
  • Drive hiring and team growth, ensuring we bring in and onboard engineers who raise the bar in both craft and collaboration.
  • Be a trusted sparring partner for architectural and technical decisions.
  • Own the delivery, quality, and ongoing performance of the mobile apps your team builds, while actively fostering a healthy, high-trust team environment.
  • Thrive in a setting where priorities can shift quickly, and where adaptability and focus are equally critical.
What can you bring

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Experience leading teams through large-scale refactors, migrations, or re-architecture efforts.
  • Strong coaching mindset—you help people grow and unlock their potential.
  • Clear communicator who can align teams and foster collaboration across functions.
  • Experience hiring, performance management, and growing high-performing teams.
  • You create an environment where people can take risks, learn from failure, and continuously improve.

Technical Background

  • Solid foundation in mobile engineering, with deep experience building and scaling apps - bonus if you understand how to get the best out through a shared Flutter codebase.
  • Experience working closely with Product, Design, and Backend teams to deliver cohesive, high-quality experiences in a fast-moving product environment.
  • You bring a strong architectural perspective on mobile systems - able to guide and challenge decisions on scalability, performance, and maintainability at the right level of abstraction, even if you’re not hands-on in the code every day.

Mindset & Values

  • You’re passionate about building great products and scalable systems.
  • You’re driven by data and outcomes—you help your team focus on impact.
  • You’re curious, a bit nerdy (in the best way), and excited about continuous learning.
  • Comfortable working in an agile environment and adapting to change.

Nice to have:

  • Experience integrating Flutter apps with complex backend systems and APIs - bonus if you’ve worked with cloud-native platforms (e.g., GCP, Azure) and understand how mobile fits into the broader architecture.
  • Proven track record of leading mobile teams through significant technical transitions (e.g., major architecture refactors, state-management changes, performance overhauls, or large-scale design system rollouts).
  • Background working on apps in domains with complex data flows or regulatory requirements - energy, utilities, or other operationally critical industries are a plus.
  • German language skills (optional but helpful for stakeholder collaboration

What success looks like (6-12 months):

  • Your team has stabilized key operational systems, with a clear roadmap for long-term architectural health.
  • You've built strong cross-functional relationships with Product, Data, and Ops, aligning on shared outcomes.
  • The team feels focused, energized, and accountable. Psychological safety is high and velocity is steadily improving.
  • You’ve helped your engineers establish individual career paths into more senior roles by giving them stretch opportunities and active coaching.
  • You’ve introduced better operational processes and tech health reviews.
