What we’re looking for

Yapily is looking for a dynamic and personable Operations Manager (Financial Crime) who can help set the operational foundation for an efficient compliance and payment framework as the business looks to scale and grow.

This role is about operational excellence - turning complex requirements into seamless, scalable workflows.

You are a subject matter expert, experienced in designing solutions for financial services products in a fast moving environment.

You are skilled in executing and refining efficient workflows for client onboarding, monitoring, and broader payment operations.

Key Tasks …

The key individual will work to deliver in the business the following:

  • Operational Guidance: Defining operational strategy for onboarding, transaction monitoring, and payments more broadly.
  • Operational Governance: Acting as the bridge between Legal/Compliance and Operations. Translating global and local regulations into actionable, step-by-step processes to deliver operational outcomes which adhere to these requirements.
  • Compliance Product: Working with Product Compliance to deliver operationally compliant systems which support the operational processes and reduce the need for manual work where possible.
  • Operational Excellence: Driving the creation of an Operational Excellence unit, automating 1LoD processes to ensure seamless onboarding and rigorous payment oversight as Yapily grows.
  • 1LoD: Own the 1LoD model, ensuring that the operational team is the primary shield against financial crime through rigorous execution of the QA framework.
  • Mentorship & Growth: Manage and develop the 1LoD team. Provide clear direction, set high standards for QA accuracy.
  • Workflow Oversight: Oversee the daily workflow across all categories (Onboarding, Ongoing Due Diligence, Transaction Monitoring and others) and ensure efficient resource allocation.
  • Reporting & Data Integrity: Develop and maintain a robust internal and external reporting framework, delivering KRIs/KPIs to senior leadership while ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of relevant regulatory filings.

You understand that in a start-up, priorities change and we all need to be adaptable. Not only will you be comfortable when asked to input and lead in other areas, but you’ll be comfortable being a self-starter and instigating changes yourself.

For your new role

  • You have a minimum of 3 years experience in working in a similar Operational environment, preferably in a fast paced fintech environment.
  • You are adept at overseeing 1LoD control frameworks, specifically in optimizing KYB processes and managing the operational complexities of transaction monitoring, tracing, and flow adjustments.
  • You are able to manage different stakeholders and report at senior management level on client KPI management, SLA management, and working to ensure the delivery of a smooth service to end users, whether that be direct clients or the end payment service user.
  • You are a people-focused leader. You’ve got a great team and you will be warm, honest and genuine on how you lead.
  • You love innovation – it’s wired into your DNA.
  • You have exceptionally high integrity. You’ll treat all interactions with the confidentiality, sensitivity and diplomacy they deserve.
  • You’re commercially minded – you understand how effective risk management and regulatory compliance can positively impact our products, services and wider business.
