At Yapily, we’re building a powerful, scalable, and secure open banking infrastructure that redefines how the world interacts with value.

Our open banking platform powers leading companies, such as Adyen, Intuit QuickBooks, and Google. By delivering payment initiation, bank data access, and pre-built products, we enable businesses to innovate fast and push the boundaries of financial technology.

As an early pioneer of open banking, we’re actively shaping the future of this industry with unrivalled expertise and a relentless focus on innovation.

Key Tasks …

The key individual will work to deliver in the business the following:

  • Operationalize Regulatory Frameworks: Translate complex regional financial regulations (including PSD2/PSD3, AMLD, DORA, and Bank of Lithuania mandates) into actionable, scalable compliance policies and day-to-day business controls.
  • Lead Regulatory Horizon Scanning: Manage the operational compliance architecture required to provide regulated payment services across Europe, while proactively tracking and mitigating future regulatory changes.
  • Embed Product Compliance & Risk Controls: Partner closely with Product and Tech teams as an internal subject matter expert to build automated, "compliant-by-design" risk controls into new open banking product features.
  • Drive Testing and Assurance Programs: Establish a routine program for compliance monitoring, risk gap analysis, and stress testing to ensure full business continuity, operational resilience, and audit readiness.
  • Harmonize UK & European Operations: Provide strategic compliance guidance to the Global Head of Compliance across Yapily’s regional entities, ensuring seamless operational alignment between UK (FCA) and European regulatory environments.
  • Partner with Compliance & Financial Crime Leadership: Work closely with the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and Global Head of Compliance to escalate critical risks, deliver regulatory reporting, and execute the company’s broader risk appetite strategy.
  • Scale the Compliance & Financial Crime Program: In cooperation with the MLRO and Global Head of Compliance, build, implement, and continuously mature a scalable, risk-based compliance and financial crime framework designed to safely support sustainable growth.
  • Execute the Risk Officer Function: Own and maintain the local Risk Management Framework, ensuring regular reporting aligns with the defined risk appetite.

This list is not exhaustive, and there may be other tasks that we ask you to be involved in from time to time. Above all, you are flexible and want to add value wherever you can. You understand that in a start-up, priorities change and we all need to be adaptable. Not only will you be comfortable when asked to input and lead in other areas, but you’ll be comfortable being a self-starter and instigating changes yourself.

For your new role

  • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a Regulatory Compliance, Compliance Officer, or Regulatory Legal role - ideally within a fast-paced, high-growth fintech or regulated payment services environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills with a track record of managing diverse stakeholders and confidently reporting compliance KPIs, risk metrics, and regulatory updates at the senior management and board level.
  • Deep operational knowledge of the European regulatory landscapes, including practical experience navigating frameworks such as PSD2/PSD3, AMLD, DORA, and Bank of Lithuania mandates. Knowledge of the FCA regulatory framework is an advantage.
  • Practical experience owning or maintaining a Risk Management Framework, including running risk registers, conducting gap analyses, and translating risk appetite into day-to-day business controls.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with product managers and engineers, bringing a problem-solving mindset that turns complex regulatory requirements into practical, automated, and "compliant-by-design" workflows.
  • You love innovation – it’s wired into your DNA.
  • You have exceptionally high integrity. You’ll treat all interactions with the confidentiality, sensitivity and diplomacy they deserve.
  • You’re commercially minded – you understand how effective risk management and regulatory compliance can positively impact our products, services and wider business.
  • You think outside of the box and are pragmatic. You will bring in and iterate on the experience, skills and knowledge of best practice that you have seen elsewhere. You are always looking for better and cost effective ways to do things.
  • You are driven and curious. You ask questions and you strive to understand.
  • You understand that your stakeholders will have different strengths. You’re happy to learn from them and to share your expertise.
  • You enjoy solving problems. You don’t get flustered easily. You’re comfortable managing your time and can be counted on to skilfully handle issues.
  • You understand the importance of attention to detail and ensuring quality outputs. Everything you produce is of high quality.
  • You have a can-do approach. You think on your feet. Switching up tasks and juggling multiple priorities comes naturally to you.
